Temple Protection Force gets a boost

temple-protection-forceTamil Nadu: Chief Minister of Tamilnadu  J Jayalalithaa has ordered an increase in the  monthly consolidated pay to the personnel of Temple Protection Force from Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 5,000. Ex army men working under this force would benefit from this new measure.

An official statement said that the Chief Minister had, during her previous regime in 1992, ordered the setting up of this force with 3,000 ex- army men and 1,000 second- level security force. The consolidated pay has been Rs 1,500 since  year 2001. To protect valuables in temples throughout the State, these forces have been working towards securing the treasures all this time.

The government under the leadership of Jayalalithaa has been taking steps towards refurbishment of temples and making way for basic amenities in all temples. Temples are the only source of sanctity, still retaining the essence of tradition among the modern communities and promote harmony among the people. It is to be noted that orders were given a month back for make-over of various temples in the State.
