Titanium Scam:Doolnews copy of PMO’s letter

Kozhikode: No action has been taken on letter sent by the Prime Ministers Office to the state Chief Secretary regarding the complaint filed against the Titanium factory scam.  The PMO sent the letter on May 6 just before the LDF government came to an end.  Though on May 13 power was handed over to the Congress no action has been taken. A copy of the PMO’s letter has been received by Doolnews.

Former Titanium employee and Jimmy George, the famous football players brother Sebastian George sent a letter regarding the Titanium Scam to the Prime Ministers Office. Jimmy George was strongly against the Waste Disposal Plant even from its conception stage. As George was against the project he had many rivals in his office and was forced to resign from his George.

Waste disposal plant that is the bone of contention in the Titanium scam was superfluous and corruption was the sole motive behind its construction. After examining this complaint the Prime Minister’s office send a recommendation of the  Union Law Ministry to the Kerala state government. The State government was asked to take appropriate action and to send an intimidation of the same to the petitioner. The state government however has remained passive and has refrained from taking any action so far.

Evidences that point towards the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s involvement in the Travancore Titanium scam was brought out by Indiavision today. The CM took a proactive step to make this scheme a success. This has been reflected through the letters sent to Supreme Court Monitoring Chairman Thyagarajan on 23 April 2005 and 5 January 2006. Copies of this letters was released by Indiavision today.

The letters were send before the Legislative Assembly or the Pollution Control Board accepted the project. The CAG report of 2007 that  studied the accounts till March 31, 2007 revealed that major misappropriation had occurred in the project. The channel also brought out pictures of rusted equipments that amounts 62 crores. These were brought down by the government and has been lying in the company un-used.

Omman Chandi is not a corrupt man. He was only interested in completing the project as early as possible. Everything he does, he takes special interest to fulfill. This is in sharp contrast with the attitude of Achuthanandan who takes special interest in torpidoing every project in the state or delay it as far as possible.

Why so much interest in a project jeopardising the financial health of an organisation? when you discuss a specific project why drag in the name of VS and make general comments?
