TN preferred business destination:Rosiah

chennai-businessChennai: Tamilnadu is a preferred business destination for many foreign companies as the southern region had registered an impressive export performance of engineering goods over the last five years and contributed to about 20 per cent of aggregate exports,’ said Tamilnadu Governor K Rosaiah at the regional exports-award function in Chennai yesterday.

Speaking after presenting awards to 60 engineering companies for leading export performance, the Governor said,’ The EEPC provided guidance to member- exporters in penetrating overseas markets, had set a target of $100 billion in 2012-2013 through its promotional efforts in focus regions in South-East Asia, Africa, countries of the Common Wealth Independent States and Latin America.’

In 2012, the EEPC proposed to organise one of the largest engineering sourcing shows in Canada that is expected to attract over 750 businessmen across the world and an Indian contingent of over 6,000 businessmen,’ added the Governor. EEPC-India regional chairman R K Muktha said,’The EEPC currently has 13,000 small, medium and large- scale manufacturers and merchant exporters including 2,750 members from the southern region.’

‘Exports from India in engineering has registered a 84 per cent growth in 2010-2011aggregating $60 billions,’ said national chairman of EEPC-India Aman Chadha.
