Tremors at Delhi

earth-quakeNew Delhi: Delhi was rocked for the second time in the day. Right after facing the wrath of terrorists with a shocking bomb blast at the Delhi High Court, Delhi faced the wrath of nature. An earthquake of low intensity shook Delhi and its satellite towns in late hours of Wednesday night sending panic waves all over the capital.

The tremors measuring 4.2 on Richter scale with Haryana’s Sonepat as epicentre, were felt across Delhi and its adjoining satellite towns of Ghaziabad and Noida in Uttar Pradesh and Gurgaon in Haryana at 11:28 pm for less than ten seconds. “The intensity was 4.2 and the epicentre was Sonepat,” Shailesh Nayak, Secretary in Ministry of Earth Sciences, and IMD Director General Ajit Tyagi, told the media.The tremor was felt very “sharp for some seconds” in Sonepat, witnesses said.
