Vijaykant blasts MK

vijayakanthChennai: DMDK chief  Vijayakant launched a vicious attack on the DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi at the start of his party’s campaign for the coming local body elections. Speaking at a public meeting in Mylapore at South Chennai, just hours after he declared the formation of a ‘third front’ in Tamil Nadu, Vijayakant steered clear of any mention of either the AIADMK or its chief J Jayalalithaa, with whom the DMDK was allied till recently.

“I am trying to address issues without bringing caste into the discussion. Whenever he talks, even if nothing is wrong, he talks about a clash between Aryans and Dravidians. Then all of you will be fighting with each other,” he said of Karunanidhi. “When two goats clash, the jackal will sit by and drink their blood.

He is that jackal and you are the goats,” he added, using a Tamil adage. Vijayakant also reprised his attack on the corrupt ways of the DMK, telling his audience the coming local body polls were crucial for them. “You have to teach a lesson to those who keep looting you. It is a crucial election for you. Don’t sleep and don’t go sell your votes for a fistful of money.

I appeal to you to give me a chance,” he said. The actor-turned-politician mentioned his alliance with the CPI(M) but did not mention alliance CPI because a formal seat sharing agreement was yet to be signed.
