Vijaykant is all for strengthning third front

vijayakanthChennai: DMDK president Vijayakanth on Wednesday said parties like All India Forward Bloc and Manitha Neya Makkal Katchi would also be accommodated in the Third Front. ‘Talks are on with these parties and they are also expected to join the Front’, he added. On Wednesday, the actor-politician announced that his party has entered into an alliance with the CPI for the local body polls and the seats to be contested by the Communist party would be announced later.

After adopting a resolution to this effect at the party’s administrative committee meeting in Chennai Tuesday evening, a CPI delegation led by State unit secretary D Pandian Wednesday called on Vijayakanth at the DMDK office at Koyambedu and formally joined the alliance.The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) has already aligned with the DMDK for the polls.

‘We have come together to discharge our political duties,’ Pandian told reporters after meeting Vijayakanth to firm up the alliance.CPI had said all its efforts to ensure that the AIADMK-led alliance, formed for the 13 April Assembly polls, remained intact failed, and expressed its desire to align with DMDK.Representatives of the parties will hold further talks to finalise the seat-sharing.

Meanwhile, the ruling AIADMK, led by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, announced on Wednesday that it has signed deals with two more parties for the forthcoming local body elections.According to a release from the ruling party’s headquarters, a seat sharing deal has been arrived at between the AIADMK and R Sarathkumar-led Akila India Samathuva Makkal Katchi.

A similar arrangement was arrived at with N Sethuraman-led Akila India Moovendar Munnetra Kazhagam, the AIADMK announced.On Tuesday, the AIADMK had finalised agreements with ‘friendly parties’ Republican Party of India, All India Forward Bloc and Tamil Manila Muslim League for the forthcoming civic pollsAccording to a party source, a seat sharing deal was arrived at between the AIADMK and India Kudiyarasu Katchi led by C K Thamizharasan. ‘Similar arrangements have been made with the All India Forward Bloc led by P V Kathiravan and Tamil Manila Muslim League led by S Sheik Dawood,’ added the source.
