Yeddyurappa moved from hospital to jail

Bangalore: Former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa who was discharged from Victoria hospital was taken back to jail today. The BJP carried back to Parappana Agrahara jail in an ambulance. Mr Yeddyurappa is in judicial custody till October 22 in connection with the charges of irregularities and the denotification of government land. He was arrested over the weekend for misusing his office while he was Chief Minister to help his two sons get prized public land at throwaway prices.

According to hospital authorities, he insisted on receiving treatment in the jail as he was disgusted and upset with media reports. After his arrest, Mr Yeddyurappa complained of breathlessness and chest pains and was moved to hospital. When doctors at the state-run Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology discharged him yesterday, saying his condition appeared to be stable, Mr Yeddyurappa checked into the Victoria Hospital, known for its specialized medical treatment.  His application for interim bail is scheduled to be heard tomorrow in a local court.

“Mr. Yeddyurappa’s heart is stable but he suffers from other medical problems, including diabetes and depression,” said the institute Director, C N Manjunath.
